CAPTURED IN LENS | Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) receives Director Julius L. Dañez during a working visit to its weaving center at the College of Education (CEd) and Engineered Bamboo facility on 9 July.

Several University officials led by Dr. Leonell P. Lijauco, Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (VPPQA), guide the visitors in exploring traditional weaving techniques and modern bamboo processing methods, underscoring TAU's dual mission to uphold cultural preservation and push for technological advancement in textile development. The visit also sparks discussions on skills training and industry-academe partnerships to boost Tarlac's local textile sector.

The Philippine Higher Education sector has made another history as it hosted the 5th Annual Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) Conference, for the first time, in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on 9 to 11 July. 

Supported by the theme “Breaking Barriers, Empowering Change,” the event brought together academic leaders, educators, and internationalization (IZN) champions to discuss transformative approaches in addressing global challenges and to award the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) Global Top Innovative Universities 2025, which was participated in by 1,253 higher education institutions (HEIs) across the world.

CAPTURED IN LENS | To strengthen its training development and community engagement programs, the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), led by the Director of Extension and Training Services Office (ETSO) Dr. Bernadeth G. Gabor, conducts a benchmarking activity at the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) and explores the best practices of the Department of Extension and Training (DET) at the Farmers’ Training Center (FTC), 9 July.

BPSU delegates participate in a discussion with TAU officials led by Dr. Leonell P. Lijauco, Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (VPPQA), along with Dr. Agnes C. Perey, DET Director.

BPSU aims to improve its outreach efforts, integrate innovative and sustainable strategies, and enhance its performance in the field of extension and training services.

CAPTURED IN LENS | Ensuring alignment with international standards and adherence to key frameworks in human rights, governance, and gender equality, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Office, sends another batch of two non-teaching staff to participate in the continuation of the Gender and Development Training 2025. The training, which focuses on International Women’s Human Rights and Governance (IWHRG), is led by Miriam College through the Women and Gender Institute (WAGI) and held at the ESI Building, Miriam College, Loyola Heights, Quezon City, from 30 June to 4 July.

Ms. Kristi Anne R. Mercado, Administrative Aide VI from the GAD Office, and Ms. Ydda Maree Alyssa A. Pacada, Administrative Assistant II from the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), take part in this capacity-building engagement to deepen their grasp of GAD frameworks, particularly the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). This international treaty addresses systemic discrimination against women across political, economic, social, cultural, and civil dimensions.
