𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒 | Gov’t greenlights TAU’s rice seed production initiative

The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has achieved another significant step to attaining SMART agriculture by securing accreditation from the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) to produce inbred rice seeds. The certification, granted through the National Seed Quality Control Services, is valid from 8 May 2025 to 8 May 2028.

Leading this groundbreaking initiative are TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, Business and Auxiliary Services (BAS) Director Dr. Jay-ar A. De Mayo, and Chief of Crop Production/ Rice Production Project In-charge Mr. Christian D. Robillos.

“This certification is a testament to our collective efforts to champion Zero Hunger and agricultural and rural development,” Dr. Salunson said. “By becoming a hub for certified inbred rice seeds production, we are not only enhancing food production but also providing farmers with reliable, high-yielding varieties that can empower farming communities.”
