Following its debut last year in the Asia University Rankings (AUR) of the Times Higher Education (THE), the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) once again joined the reputable AURΒ  and obtained a β€œreporter” status per pronouncements released on 30 April.

An international avenue for academic excellence and comprehensive research based in the UK, THE used 18 performance indicators of THE World University Rankings (WUR) and firmly calibrates 1,127 Asian universities’ attributes across the 31 countries and territories based on their performances under teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

TAU obtained scores in all other areas, however it did not satisfy the requirement of having hundreds of research papers published in reputable publications within the past five years, a challenge that necessitates considerable financial investments. TAU was, nevertheless, granted reporter status, demonstrating its commitment to participating in the data submission process and continuing institutional progress. Moreover, five Philippine Higher Education Institutions’ (PHEIs) in Metro Manila entered the official rankings and nine universities outside the metro were tagged as reporters.

Joining TAU are Cebu Technological University (CTU), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), and Visayas State University (VSU).Β

In addition, five PHEIs entered the list. Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) topped the Philippine rankings as it led the country in the 401-500 bracket while both De La Salle University (DLSU) and University of the Philippines (UP) placed in the 501-600 bracket. Mapua University and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) were included in theΒ  601+ bracket.

Topping this year’s tables were two prominent universities from mainland China; Tsinghua University and Peking University proved their dominance in the continent as they triumph over their Asian peers. Meanwhile, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and University of Tokyo completed the Top 5.Β Β
