During the grand Convocation for Tarlac Agricultural Universityโ€™s (TAU) 80th Founding Anniversary on 18 December, University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson framed TAUโ€™s eight decades as a symbolic call to advance the institutionโ€™s worldwide influence while renewing commitment to its core mission. The event, held at the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center, centered on the anniversary motto, โ€œ80 Years of Excellence: Cultivating Innovation, Sustainability, and Global Leadership,โ€ drawing together the TAU community and distinguished guests in a shared vision for the future.

Representation marked the day from its start, with the planting of a native oak as a living โ€œLegacy Treeโ€, an act embodying growth, resilience, and TAUโ€™s pledge to environmental stewardship.

In his keynote address, President Salunson urged the academic community to reflect on its journey with gratitude and move forward with a clear purpose. โ€œThis occasion invites us to look back with gratitude and forward with purpose,โ€ he stated, challenging TAUians to consider โ€œwhat we have become and what we choose to pursue.โ€ He highlighted that, over generations, the University has produced not only farmers and educators but also innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists, and leaders who drive progress locally and abroad.

As part of Tarlac Agricultural Universityโ€™s (TAU) celebration of the 80th Founding Anniversary, members of the Administrative College (AdCo) lead the tree-planting activity on 18 December, reinforcing the Universityโ€™s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

The members gather in a designated one (1) hectare land located at the cottage area near the men's dormitory. Among those planted are Philippine oak (Lithocarpus sp.), palosapis (Anisoptera thurifera), and white lauan (Pentacme paucinervis).ย

The oak tree, one of the highlights of the planting activity, carries strong symbolism in the context of a foundation celebration. It represents strength, endurance, stability, and growth from humble beginnings and reflects TAUโ€™s eight decades of service, resilience, and continuous development.

The university also plans to gradually plant all Philippine native tree species within the identified one (1) hectare area, further positioning TAU as a living laboratory for forestry education and a sanctuary for biodiversity conservation.

Earning yet another national recognition, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) โ€“ College of Education (CEd) has secured its spot among the countryโ€™s top teacher education institutions (TEIs). According to the recently released results of the September and November 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), TAU ranks 8th among top-performing schools at the elementary level in the category for institutions with 50 to 99 examinees.

TAU-CEdโ€™s performance in the elementary level examination recorded a remarkable 98.36% first-time pass rate. Overall, 61 out of 64 examinees successfully passed, achieving a 95.31% institutional passing rate, a figure that far exceeds the national passing rate of 51.05% and underscores the programโ€™s exceptional preparation and support for its students.

This culture of excellence extends to the secondary level as well. First-time takers achieved a 95.45% passing rate, while the overall institutional performance reached 87.63%, with 85 out of 97 examinees passing. These results comfortably surpass the national passing rate of 72.62%, highlighting TAU-CEdโ€™s consistent commitment to high-quality teacher education at the secondary level.

In a Facebook post, CEd Dean Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares emphasized that these results reflect the Universityโ€™s consistent delivery of quality instruction, strong mentoring, and the efforts and sacrifices of both students and faculty. โ€œAbove all, they stand as a powerful testament to our shared commitment to excellence in teacher education,โ€ she remarked.
