Strengthening its commitment to a faculty promotion system anchored on merit, transparency, and excellence, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) gathered its academic community for an orientation on the Enhanced Implementing Guidelines of the DBM-CHED Joint Circular No. 1, s. 2026, amending and enhancing the guidelines under DBM-CHED Joint Circular No. 3, s. 2022. The activity provided faculty members and academic officials with a vital avenue to understand the updated standards and evaluation mechanisms that will shape faculty promotion, particularly across the four key result areas of Instruction; Research, Innovation, and/or Creative Work; Extension Services; and Professional Development.

The University President; Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, who delivered the Welcome Remarks, highlighted the University's continuing pursuit of academic excellence and its commitment to ensuring that faculty members are properly guided and supported in advancing their professional careers, while Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Leonell P. Lijauco presented the Statement of Purpose and Objectives, emphasizing the importance of establishing a shared and informed understanding of the enhanced promotion guidelines across the University.

Beyond providing information on the revised requirements, the orientation underscored the importance of clarity, preparedness, and consistency in evaluating faculty accomplishments, particularly as the University continues to strengthen its academic standards and professional development mechanisms. Discussions led by concerned academic and administrative officials covered the major KRAs, followed by a workshop on the evaluation of faculty application case scenarios using the system and an open forum facilitated by the Institutional Evaluation Committee.

Through the orientation, TAU reinforced that faculty promotion is not merely an administrative process but an important mechanism for recognizing professional excellence, rewarding meaningful contributions, and motivating faculty members to continuously advance their competence in instruction, research and innovation, extension, and professional development ultimately contributing to the University's pursuit of quality and sustained institutional excellence.
