Bridging research and community transformation, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), in collaboration with the LGUโMSWD Camiling, successfully conducted Project INCLUSIVE START on April 28โ29, 2026, and Project CLASSWISE on April 30, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to responsive and inclusive education. Anchored on the research initiatives of Dr. Rene G. Nanit and Ms. Trisha Mae M. Ramos, who also served as project proponents, the extension activities addressed the identified challenges faced by Child Development Workers (CDWs) and teachers in handling children with special needs and managing diverse classroom environments.
The three-day extension initiative equipped participants with practical, research-based strategies for creating more inclusive and learner-centered educational spaces. Dr. Mariella Alexes R. Espiritu, Director for Curriculum and Instruction, led the opening sessions on the Foundations of SPED and Inclusive Education and Understanding Children with Special Needs, establishing a strong foundation for responsive teaching practices. Meanwhile, Prof. Analyn J. Alegado, Department Chair of BEED, facilitated discussions on Strategies for Inclusive Classroom Management and Instructional Strategies for Inclusive Teaching, empowering participants with effective classroom approaches adaptable to varied learning needs.
Culminating the series, Dr. Rene G. Nanit, Department Chair of BECED, spearheaded sessions on Foundations of Classroom Management and Positive Behavior Management and Discipline, alongside discussions on Managing Large and Diverse Classes, Instructional Strategies for Learner Engagement, and Promoting a Positive Learning Environment. More than a capability-building undertaking, the initiatives embodied TAUโs continuing thrust of translating research into meaningful extension services that directly benefit communities. Through the active participation of CDWs and teachers from Camiling, the programs strengthened the shared vision of fostering inclusive, nurturing, and empowering learning environments where every child is given the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
