After a month of classroom immersion, cultural exchange, and professional learning, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), through the Office of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), formally concludes the International Practice Teaching Program (IPTP) in partnership with Universitas Siliwangi during a closing ceremony held at the AgriTourism Hostel Function Hall on 22 July.
The ceremony marks the completion of the teaching internship of Universitas Siliwangi pre-service teachers Ms. Maulina Tya Prastika and Ms. Salwa Salsabila, who spent a month at the TAU-Laboratory School (LS). During their stay, they gained practical teaching experience while engaging with Filipino learners, faculty members, and the wider University community.
In her message, ELIA Director Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel expresses her gratitude to the cooperating teachers, partner offices, and University personnel whose support helps make the program successful. She notes that the collective efforts of the University community create a welcoming environment for the visiting interns while reinforcing TAU's commitment to internationalization.
Highlighting the value of the partnership, University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson shares, "International collaborations such as the International Practice Teaching Program create meaningful opportunities for future educators to learn beyond borders. Through academic exchange and cultural immersion, we continue to strengthen our commitment to producing globally competent, socially responsible, and culturally responsive educators while fostering lasting partnerships with institutions around the world."
Meanwhile, College of Education (CEd) Dean Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares also congratulates the pre-service teachers for embracing every learning opportunity throughout the program. She emphasizes that teaching in another country allows future educators to broaden their perspectives, strengthen their instructional skills, and develop a deeper appreciation of different educational practices. She encourages them to carry the knowledge, friendships, and experiences they have gained at TAU as they continue their journey as future teachers.
The program likewise acknowledges the assistance of Mx. Elynmer P. Cortez, one of the cooperating teachers, who serves as the guide during the participants' educational visits to Baguio City and selected cultural and historical destinations in Tarlac Province. Through these activities, the visiting interns gain a deeper appreciation of the local culture and heritage while complementing the learning they receive inside the classroom.
As the International Practice Teaching Program comes to a close, the ceremony celebrates not only the accomplishments of the participating pre-service teachers but also the enduring partnership between TAU and Universitas Siliwangi. The initiative reflects the University's continuing efforts to expand international engagement and provide learning experiences that prepare future educators for an increasingly interconnected world.
